Jack Dorsey, former CEO of Twitter, has publicly suggested that Signal Messenger switch to Bitcoin

ETH

$1,534.58

for its user-to-user payment system.

He made this suggestion on April 9 in response to a post on X by Bitcoin developer Calle, who said Bitcoin would work well with Signal’s private messaging system.

In a short reply, Dorsey wrote, “Signal should use Bitcoin for P2P payments”. His message received support from David Marcus, a former PayPal executive, who added that he believes all apps that do not process their own transactions should connect to Bitcoin.

Their comments show that Bitcoin can work for regular payments, not just as a way to hold value. Dorsey has said before that if Bitcoin is only treated like digital gold, it may not succeed in the long term. He believes it should be used in everyday situations.

Signal is a messaging app that launched in 2014. It lets people send messages, make voice calls, and hold video chats. The app is known for protecting user privacy and keeping its code open to the public.

It supports payments using a token called MobileCoin, which changed its name to Sentz in late 2023. MobileCoin is designed to focus on fast and private transfers. It was built using Ethereum’s
